Yes, Rocket wants to take over!

Started by two German brothers, Rocket is known to copy American start-ups and adapt them for the German market. Now, they are adapting their copied concepts to the Asian market. The group already runs e-commerce websites in the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. In its quest to dominate e-commerce in Asia, it recently launched e-commerce websites in Myanmar and Cambodia.

In Myanmar they launched an auto trading site – motors.com.mm, a general e-commerce site – ads.com.mm and a job board – jobs.com.mm. Rocket wants first mover status in Myanmar, which you know, recently opened up for business, and merely have 110,000 internet users of out a population of 60 million.

Rocket also seeks first mover status in Cambodia, with the launch of shop.com.kh, the country’s first B2C website.

No doubt, both countries have development issues which will affect the websites, such as lack of a skilled labour force. However, Rocket is not about to let that stop them. They are venturing where no other Asian start-up wants to go.
